About Ooty
Ooty, fittingly regarded as the “Queen of Hills,” is a popular hill station in The Nilgiris district of the southern state of Tamil Nadu. It is also known as Ootacamund, which derives its name from Udhagamandalam, meaning, village of huts. It is situated at a height of 2,240 m (7,349 ft) above sea level, which offers cool breeze most of the time, the highest temperature ever recorded here being 25 °C (77 °F). Nilgiris, meaning Blue Mountains, is a land of picturesque tourist spots, which has been a well-liked summer and weekend getaway. The Nilgiris hill ranges include the four magnificent hills, namely, Doddabetta, Snowdon, Elk Hill and Club Hill, which create an amphitheater, in which Ooty lies. The must-see tourist spots here include Botanical Garden, beautiful lakes, boat houses, waterfalls, wildlife sanctuary, tea estates, and several shooting corners.
About Coonoor
Coonoor is a beautiful hill station, located at a distance of 18 km from Ooty and 71 km from Kovai or Coimbatore. It’s a taluk and municipality in the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu, known for the production of Nilgiris tea. This pictographic place is nestled at a height of 1, 850 m (6,070 ft) above sea level. Coonoor, the second largest, sublime hill station in the Nilgiris, following Ooty, is perfect place for trekking. Not to mention, it is ideal for hiking too. The nearby airport is Coimbatore International Airport, separated by a distance of 79 km from the Coonoor town. This hill station is known for its green surroundings and for assorted wildflowers and birds. It is an idyllic hill town is over-spilled with tourists, especially during summer. This picturesque maze is frequented by filmmakers both from India and overseas.
