About Munnaar

Munnaar is a town and hill station, nestled in the Idukki district of Kerala, a state in South-western region in India, in the Western Ghats range of mountains. It is located at about 1,600 meters (5,200 ft) above sea level. Munnaar means a convergence of three rivers: Mudhirapuzha, Nallathanni, and Kundaly. This hill station was the former summer resort of the British Government in South India. Munnaar is known for its eye treats such as sprawling tea plantations, picturesque spots, winding lanes, and holiday facilities. Neelakuringi is one of the exotic floras found in the forests and lowlands, which is said to cleanse the hills in blue, once every twelve years, and it is said to come into flower next in 2018. Anamudi, an ideal spot for trekking in Munnaar is the highest peak in South India that stands at 2, 695 m (8842 ft) above sea level. Some of the must-see places in Munnaar include Eravikulam National Park, Anamudi Peak, Mattupetty, Pallivasal, Top Station, and Tea Museum.
